World Health Summit 2026 Opens in Nairobi
The  has officially opened at the , with leaders calling for urgent, coordinated action to address emerging and persistent global health challenges. 

“This meeting comes at a critical time when the world must come together to strengthen health systems and ensure equitable access to care,” organisers noted at the opening session. 

The three-day summit has drawn policymakers, scientists, innovators, and development partners from across the globe to deliberate on solutions aimed at building resilient and inclusive health systems. 

According to summit organisers, the forum will “spark solutions and partnerships that will help shape a healthier future for the region and beyond,” with key discussions centred on pandemic preparedness, climate-related health risks, and healthcare financing. 

A major focus of this year’s meeting is the role of traditional medicine in modern healthcare systems. “Traditional medicine remains a vital part of healthcare for millions, and integrating it safely and effectively is a priority,” speakers emphasised during the sessions. 

Participants are also expected to generate policy recommendations and strengthen collaborations that could influence health strategies across Africa. 

The summit continues over the next two days, with stakeholders expected to outline actionable steps toward advancing global health outcomes.
